Can random people help charge your sigil just by seeing it?

Post by Cam Revillot » Sun Dec 24, 2017 8:07 pm

I don't mean other magicians actively helping, I mean just putting it in a public area where a lot of people will see it. Does that work? Or would they need to know the intent, reach gnosis, forget, etc?

This came up in another group and I am of the opinion that you would need to stir some kind of emotional response beyond simple observation, unless you reach a level of observation that saturates such a large portion of the populous that everyone "knows" what it means.

And find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
And is traveled by dark feet and dark wings

My instinct says no.

I think it might require the special state of gnosis for the symbol to go from the conscious mind to the unconscious mind in order to do its work.

Then again on a personal level some people destroy their sigils after launch and others keep them on display, the idea being that they are unconsciously being reminded of them in the environment. Although that is also after they are being activated by gnosis in the first place. I have experimented with both techniques and still have no real answer as to whether keeping them around helps or hinders.

The two are rarely compatible.”
