Introducing: The Random Belief Generator, a community project

Post by kingnine » Mon Mar 12, 2018 12:16 am

I was talking earlier with Vap0rwar3, and we came up with the idea of a "random belief generator." It smashes together two arbitrary belief descriptors to make a new, randomly selected paradigm.

I banged up a proof of concept, attached to this post. It's not pretty. And it's very very small, with only a few available words. That's where you all come in. I wanna outsource the words to the Chaotes community. What should I include? The beliefs are structured in pairs, a prefix and a suffix, adjective-noun. The better they fit into the form ___ ___ist, the better.

Open this in your web browser to check it out.

The values that are loaded in so far are:
Prefixes: "anarcho", "classical", "quantum", "scientific", "radical", "orthodox", "progressive", "conservative", "moderate", "historical", "modern", "postmodern", "absolutist", "relativist", "feminist", "theistic", "agnostic", "Marxist", "libertarian", "crypto", "ceremonial," "Quixotic"

Infixes: "-", "neo-", "cyber-", "anti-", "meta-"

Suffixes: "animism", "shamanism", "spiritualism", "Platonism", "hermeticism", "idealism", "materialism", "monotheism", "polytheism", "deism", "atheism", "monism", "dualism", "humanism", "environmentalism", "fascism", "socialism", "capitalism", "communism", "Luciferianism", "Typhonism", "Thelema", "Wicca", "Buddhism", "Taoism", "Satanism", "Hinduism", "Christianity", "Judaism", "Islam", "Aztecism", "Kemeticism"

Magic is a method of talking to the universe in words that it cannot ignore.
The two are rarely compatible.”

Kingnine, Can you post the values you already have in the main post?

As we add them, if you update the first post it will be easiest to track.

I will definitely have suggestions.

Added, with some edits. Notably, the things that are activities rather than belief systems, like "divination," didn't really fit well so I didn't add them. I also couldn't really find a good way to say "Draconian pathism."

Good point. I was thinking it was like a professions, like a diviner. There are a lot of magickal methods, but not a lot of magickal schools of thought.. in my opinion.
